AIR International Resilience Lab (IRLab) is providing seed grants to support the development of concept papers that advance innovative and rigorous perspectives on resilience for international development.

2022 Grants

This grant opportunity facilitates the mission of the Arizona Institute for Resilience (AIR) International Research Lab (IRLab) to support interdisciplinary groups to develop practical, applied solutions that further resilience in our natural and human communities.

2023 Award for Excellence in Resilience Research for Global Development Challenges

This award recognizes the thought leadership at the UAz by honoring the work of three outstanding researchers who are contributing to the field of resilience, as demonstrated by the production of impactful published work.

Media Development, Entrepreneurship and Resilience in Yemen: A Working Research Group

This project proposes an exploratory study in entrepreneurial resilience applied for the first time, to our knowledge, to media development in a country suffering from an ongoing civil conflict and dire humanitarian crisis.

Serial Migration as a Form of Climate Adaptation in Bangladesh: Multiple Shocks and Psychosocial Resilience among Marginalized Groups

This pilot study will explore the climate adaptation and resilience of serial climate migrants within Bangladesh. What effect does climate change play in the various steps of serial migration and how do various stressors interact?

Working Group on Resilience Informatics

We propose Resilience Informatics (RI) as a discipline within Resilience research. We define RI as informatics systems and technologies designed to support and promote the ability of individuals, organizations, and populations to successfully cope with natural and man-made stressors. We propose a Working group on Resilience Informatics (WGRI) that will form the nucleus for a Center for Resilience Informatics at the University of Arizona, and establish the University of Arizona as a leader in Resilience Informatics.

Working Group on the Dynamics of Migration: Mapping Stories and Data on Migration as Evidence of Climate Adaptation in Central and North America

The University of Arizona is uniquely positioned to lead on resilience and development research on the dynamics of migration in the Americas. Research on campus sheds light on conditions that force migrants to leave their homes, factors affecting decision-making during their journeys, and how policies impact their arrival at the US-Mexico border.
