In the Indigenous Khasi communities of the South West Khasi Hills district in Northeastern India, we have been investigating the potential causes of reported health issues in rural villages. These villages are isolated and lack health facilities. Moreover, deforestation in the region has affected the availability of traditional medicinal plants used by traditional healers. For this project, we have gathered survey data from 32 villages, and we intend to gather more data to establish associations with the reported health issues.

Collaborators: IRL researcher Erica Goto works on this project in collaboration with ann-elise lewallen (University of Victoria) and Jane Warjri (independent researcher in India).
